The Figure

The man who edits what the world may know

Minister Durman Molbrain controls what the Four Continents are permitted to remember. As Minister of Public Censorship and Editing, his competence is the management of information — which is precisely why the Supreme Preceptor calls him in when a leak about the cargo tanks cannot be allowed to spread.

His piercing grey gaze gives little away. But Molbrain is not the cold functionary the Preceptorium takes him for. Once he learns his half-brother Christian is alive, the editor of other men's secrets becomes a man with one of his own.

Function

Minister of Public Censorship and Editing. The official charged with deciding what the population is allowed to know — and what is quietly removed from the record.

The summons

Warnstein attributes the leak about the cargo tanks to Molbrain’s competence. It is not a compliment; it is a leash being shown to him.

The secret

His maternal half-brother Christian — once Messagala’s personal pilot, presumed dead — is alive, and at the center of everything.

“I believe, Mr. Molbrain, that the non-public dissemination of information can be attributed to your competence.”
